Finding that special someone can be an arduous task. Whether you’re seeking your soul mate or longing for a lustful night of passion, deciding that you like someone enough to interact and connect with them on a deeper level can be met by a multitude of what you may consider being minute details, yet to your potential suitor might seem like the antithesis of their romantic ambition. Smoker? The chances are that you may be reducing the risk of meeting your match by over 50%. As Brits reveal their top dating turn-offs, we find out if there’s anything that can be done to improve your dating game.

Strained Teeth from Smoking

In a survey of 2,000 singletons, both men (70%) and women (79%) revealed that partners with bad teeth were the most off-putting traits or habits. Structural discrepancies of one’s oral cavity aside, the staining of teeth accumulated by smoking over time will ultimately leave your teeth looking yellow as opposed to the pearly whites you once had. The staining of your teeth from smoking occurs because of the tar and nicotine settle into the cracks in the enamel of your teeth.

Solution? Stop smoking. There are many ways to whiten your teeth these days, but if you don’t actually stop smoking, then your stains will always remain. E-cigarettes have been found to be a great way to help people stop smoking and in the last six years, the NHS has revealed that e-cigarettes have helped up to 1.6 million smokers quit.

An Annoying Voice

Surprisingly, the survey found that for both men (63%) and women (71%) having an annoying voice was the second highest annoying trait to have. Whilst we’ll struggle to give you a solution to your inherent and garbled auditory performance you call your speech, we do have a solution for those of you, whose voices may have been distorted by your daily cigarette ritual. Smoking tobacco irritates and dries out your vocal chords which makes them swell and will essentially stop them working at their optimum. Over the course of time, this swelling will cause your voice to sound hoarse and coarse and may contribute to a loved one steering clear of you in the future. With the aid of an e-cigarette, you could find that you’ll be well on your way to becoming smoke-free and snaring that special someone in the near future.

Smoking Cigarettes

Men (54%) and women (56%) also agreed that smoking cigarettes was a major turn-off for dating. By far the easiest solution that we can provide for you, is to quit it. Found by Public Health England to be up to 95% safer than smoking cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vaping may just contribute to you finding your lifelong companion as well as providing you with a number of other mutual benefits. As well as potentially giving you a few more years of your life for you and your new spouse to play with, e-cigarettes don’t leave the noxious odor synonymous with smoking and can even save you money. Win. Win. Win.

With your newfound sense of purpose to seek a partner restored and with our cupid duty done for the day why not try vaping and see what might come your way?
