About the Author
Joe Delaney looks after the day to day running of V2 Cigs UK and the content on its blog. He first wrote for V2 over a decade ago, before going off to study and work in education and the arts, and he has since come back to the family business - running the day to day side, and returning to the writing that first brought him in.
V2 started with a gift. In 2012, Joe's father, Greg, was given one of the early cigalikes by his brother and sister, made the switch from cigarettes to vaping, and believed in it enough to build a company around it - so other adult smokers could find the same alternative. That story is a real part of why Joe came back to it.
Joe's background in the arts and in education shapes how he approaches the blog. The aim is simple: to make the site a useful, reliable source of information that helps people understand vaping and the products in it, rather than only sell to them.
Being one of the UK's early vape companies has given V2 a long view of an industry that rarely sits still. Through every change - the rules, the products, the science - the constant has been talking to customers, keeping up with the kit that serves them best, and staying firmly within CAP and ASA guidance.
Vaping products are for adult smokers and existing vapers only. Vaping is not risk-free. Not suitable for non-smokers or anyone under 18.
What Joe Writes About
Joe's writing falls into five main areas, and just about everything on the V2 blog sits in one of them:
Choosing a Vape - Buying guides, honest best of round ups, and in plain English comparisons of the different device types.
Switching from Smoking - the why and how of moving off cigarettes, from first kits to nicotine strengths.
Vape Reviews - hands-on reviews of the kit V2 stocks, based on real use.
E-Liquids & Flavours - making sense of e-liquid types, strengths and flavours.
Vape Care & Troubleshooting - fixing the everyday problems and getting more life out of your kit.
Hands on Testing
When the blog recommends a device, Joe has used it. Alongside running V2 day to day, he is hands-on with product testing, quality control and scouting new kit. Testing for something like leaks means actually filling kits and trying to make them fail - pocket-carrying them, leaving them upside down overnight, putting them through hot-to-cold swings - rather than repeating manufacturer claims. The verdicts in his articles come from that, and from the feedback the customer-service team hears, not from someone else's review.
How Joe Researches
Health, safety and regulatory points are checked against named UK authorities and linked in the piece, not asserted from memory.
Vaping is only ever described as "less harmful than smoking" where a UK authority says so, and never as "safe".
How a product performs is reported from first-hand use, not someone else's review.
Sources Joe draws on include the NHS, the MHRA, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, Cancer Research UK, ASH, the UK Health Security Agency, the CAP Code and ASA guidance, and manufacturer instructions. His articles offer general information and are not medical advice.
